Larry Wayne Britton, 70 of Danville, WV, left this world on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at his residence and is now awaiting a trophy whitetail in the woods of Heaven.
He was born June 5, 1946 in Madison, WV a son of the late Edward and Lillian Britton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant daughter Kimberly.
Larry was a member of the UMWA and worked for 37 ¾ years at Harris #1 mine. He was an avid hunter, great cook, walking firearm encyclopedia and gentleman.
He is survived by his answered prayer and love of his life, Betty Thompson; three children, Kevin (Kim) Britton of Danville, Tammy Kirk of Danville and Eric (Stacy) Britton of Sissonville; and eight grandchildren, Alexzandria, Dustin, Summer, Coltin, Kimberlyn, Janna, Kaydence and Beau.
The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to so many, especially Dignity Hospice, Gentiva Home Health, 3-East staff at CAMC Memorial, The Lighthouse Program of Boone County, Dr. Clanton, Dr. Muliniti and family friend, Steven Griffith.
In lieu of flowers the family asks for donations to be made to the Beyond the Backyard Program PO Box 3327, Charleston, WV 25333 so generations to come may learn to love the outdoors as he did.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 pm, Friday, May 26, 2017 at Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Howerton officiating.
