Johnny W Meade

Johnny W. Meade, Phd, 72, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Logan Regional Medical Center.

He was born February 27, 1945 in Myra, WV a son of the late Allen Junior Meade & Erma Lee (Salyers) Meade.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Dewey & Buryel Salyers and Colonel Burton & Mary Catherine Meade, infant son, Johnny Meade Jr, two brothers, Dewey Meade and Ronnie Lee Meade, two sisters, Katherine Meade and Carolyn Meade, two special nephews, Brian Chambers and James “Curley” Vance, two brothers-in-law, four sisters-in-law, and his father and mother-in-law, Stewart & Lucy (Marcum) Duty

Johnny enjoyed going to church and preaching as well as hunting and fishing. He was a veteran of the United States Airforce, he was a member of the Honor Guard, and the UMWA Local 5958. Johnny graduated from Cypress Bible College with a Phd in Theology. He dearly loved his church congregation. 

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Carrie Louise (Duty) Meade of Chapmanville; step-mother Barbara Meade; one daughter, Kimberly (Michael) Resler of Lake; one son, James K. (Chasity) Meade of Omar; two sisters, Brenda (Meade) Stover of Chapmanville and Sharon (Ted) Olzack of Lafaette, IN; two brothers, Paul (Charlene) Meade of Chapmanville and Kenny (Kim) Meade of Lake, WV; six grandchildren, Tiffany Meade, Janet (Donal) Vance, Carrie Davis, Ryan Meade, Bella Meade and Blake Meade; two great-grandchildren, Scarlett Watts and Weston Vance; his special brother-in-law and best friend, Roy Chambers; and a host of other family and friends.

Services will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at the Church of God in the Name of Christ Jesus, Trace Fork, Chapmanville, WV with Damon Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 from 6 – 10 pm at the church.

Pallbearers will be his brothers, nephews, and grandsons.

Honorary pallbearers will be family and friends.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
