William “Billy Ray” Adkins, 72 of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on October 10, 2024, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, WV.

He was born July 7, 1952, in Hamlin, WV, the son of the late William and Beulah Adkins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Jason Adkins; two sisters, Charlene Adkins and Wanda Adkins; two brothers, Clifford Adkins and Nathan Adkins; maternal grandparents, Erble and Clercy Wheatley; paternal grandparents, John and Lula Adkins; and in-laws, Emil and Mae Sutphin.

William enjoyed reading the bible, fishing and working on old cars.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Barbara Adkins; son, Brian (Heather) Adkins; brothers, Arden Adkins and Glen (Nellie) Adkins; sister-in-law, Rosetta Adkins; grandchildren, Candice Adkins, Demi Adkins, Landon Adkins, Bailey Adkins and Owen Adkins; great grandchildren, Jaxon, Legend and Cohen Aldridge, Roman Williamson, Winter Ray and Avery Hudkins; two very good friends, Lowell Hager and Heston Taylor.

Services will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Freeman Funeral Home with Joe Lane and Jerry Sutphin officiating. Burial will follow at the Adkins Cemetery, Wheatley Branch, WV.

Visitation will be on Sunday, October 13, 2024, from 12pm to 2pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
