William Charley "Chuck" Eldridge Jr.

It is with a broken heart that we announce the passing of our beloved & devoted father, grandfather, and friend, William Charley “Chuck” Eldridge Jr., 71, of Big Ugly, WV, departed this life on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at his residence.

He was born August 11, 1950 in Boone County, WV, the son of the late William Charley Eldridge Sr. and Carnie Madeline White.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Joyce Eldridge; and his grandparents, Boyd Eldridge and Elizabeth Prince, Howard and Macel White.

Chuck was a retired coal miner, the owner/operator of Eldridge Trucking and Eldridge Excavating. He was passionate about the outdoors. Chuck also loved to work from sunrise to sunset. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, animals, and chickens. His family and work was his life and devotion.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beloved companion, Joan Giles of Winfield; three daughters, Dorothy Lavonne Dingess, Holly Suzanne Eldridge (Chris), and Bridgette Elizabeth Smith (Bill) all of Big Ugly, WV; ten grandchildren, Breanna, Brittani, Johnni, Charley, Shea, Elijah, Creed, Isabella, Bailey, and Britney; seven great-grandchildren, Carter, Jasmyn, Kensley, Alanna, Owen, Mason, and Aniyah; special friends and family, Jerry, Greg, Louie, Bebo, Herman, Bub, Jason, Jeff, James, John, and Rufus.

Visitation will be on Saturday, December 4, 2021 from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Freeman Funeral Home.

Burial will be held at a later date.
