Virginia "Jennie Lee" (Letsinger) Brown Obituary

Virginia “Jennie Lee” Letsinger Brown, 73, of Spring Hill, FL, formerly of South Man, WV, passed away peacefully at Sturgill Hospice House in Brooksville, FL on Friday, November 14, 2025.

Jennie Lee was a loving partner, a wonderful sister, a thoughtful and devoted “Aunt Jennie,” and a genuine, sincere friend to all who knew her. She embraced life with joy and gratitude, but nothing brought her more happiness than spending time with her family and close friends. With a contagious smile and an open heart, she never met a stranger and left lasting impressions wherever she went.

A gifted cook, Jennie Lee was known for preparing meals not only for loved ones, but for anyone in her community who needed warmth or comfort. Entertaining came naturally to her—she loved bringing people together, creating laughter-filled memories, and making every gathering feel special. She also loved to dance and was proudly voted “Best Dancer” in high school, a title that followed her throughout her life. She and her significant other, Carey, could be found on the dance floor any time a band was playing.

Jennie Lee had a servant’s heart and delighted in doing for others. She enjoyed playing Mahjong every Monday, and once a month she joined a close group of friends for cards and games—fellowship she treasured deeply. She and Carey shared a love for growing and canning vegetables on a farm in North Carolina, a tradition they carried on after their move to Florida by sourcing produce from local farms so they could continue the hobby they loved together.

Jennie Lee’s warmth, generosity, and joyful spirit will be remembered and cherished by all whose lives she touched.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Michael J. Brown, whose memory she cherished throughout her later years and her brother-in-law, John Hale.

Those left to cherish her memory include her precious sister’s Mary Ruth Letsinger Hale of Chapmanville, WV, Perye Letsinger Kosempa (John) of Ocala, Fl and Betty Lou Letsinger Anderson (Dave) of Alpharetta, GA, and her awesome nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and Carey Metts, her significant other.

Celebration of Life will be held at Bruce McDonald United Methodist Church in South Man, WV., on Wednesday, November 26th, at 11am to 1pm.
