Virginia Merle Vance

Virginia Merle Vance, 74 of Dingess, WV, departed this life on November 18, 2020 at her residence with her family gathered by her side.

She was born November 5, 1946 in Dingess, WV the daughter of the late Carlos & Delcie Wilson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Abe & Shirley Marcum and Carter & Georgie Wilson, one sister, Carmella Kay Baisden, brother-in-law, Anderson Baisden Jr., and her father and mother-in-law, Floyd & Bessie Vance.

Merle enjoyed spending special time with her family and grandsons who she loved dearly. She was their biggest supporter and protector. She was a retired cook at Lenore and Tug Valley High School. Merle was a gentle soul. She touched the lives of so many people. As a cook, she especially loved the children that she was surrounded by daily.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband who she loved with all her heart, Dallas Vance; one daughter, Sonja (Lee) Williamson; one son, Todd (Lisa) Vance; five sisters, Ruth (James) Copley, Linda (Johnny) Brown, Debra (Elvis) Baisden, Connie (James) Turner and Diana Sue Dingess; four grandchildren, Cody Williamson, Jacob Todd Vance, Kaleb Williamson and Camron Williamson; and her care-giver, Dora Marcum. Along with a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00pm, November 21, 2020 at the Mt. Hope Freewill Baptist Church, Dingess, WV with Pastor Darrell Newsome officiating. Burial will follow at the Wilson Cemetery, Dingess, WV.

Friends may call November 21, 2020 from 12:00pm until 2:00pm at the church.

Pallbearers will be Cody Williamson, Kaleb Williamson, Jacob Vance and Camron Williamson.

Honorary pallbearers will be Chris Copley, CJ Copley, Matthew Wilson, Josh Wilson, Chad Wilson and Shadd Baisden.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
