Obituary

Vida Lee Stollings, 78 of Franklin, Tennessee formerly of Harts, WV, Oakwood, OH and Russellville, ARK, departed this life on February 9, 2023 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family after a long-fought battle with cancer.

She was born October 5, 1944 in Harts, WV the daughter of the late James and Julia Cledith Lambert.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother; James Lambert Jr., sisters-in-law; Doris Lambert and Sherry Stollings, and brothers-in-law, Hursel Adkins and Conrad Lucas.

On January 15, 1962, Vida married Jesse “JC, Jay” Stollings and went on to have three children. She graduated from Defiance College in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in social work. She then went on to work in a domestic violence shelter, a home for disabled adults, and the Area Agency on Aging; she devoted her life to helping others lead fulfilling lives. During retirement she enjoyed spending her time playing cards with friends and family, and doing various crafts such as jewelry making, holiday themed wreaths and bird houses. Vida also enjoyed planting flowers and spoiling her dogs and grandchildren.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 61 years, Jesse Stollings; daughter, Judy (Craig) Myers; sons, Jesse (Kelly) Stollings Jr. and Jerry (Denise) Stollings; she is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Julia Myers, Victoria Myers, Jackson Stollings, Gabriel Stollings, MK (Juan) Osorio, Jessica (Dominic) Mansel-Pleydell, and Grace Mueller; her cherished siblings, Doris Adkins, Ronnie Lambert, Ilene Kloos, and Glen (Linda) Lambert; brothers and sisters-in-law, Dale (Laura) Stollings, Ancil (Tammy) Stollings, Patricia Lucas, Gary (Patricia) Stollings; and a host of precious friends, nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, May 20, 2023 at the Freeman Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Huffman officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens in Chapmanville.

Visitation will be on Friday May 19, 2023 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made in her name to the First Baptist Church, Pottsville, Arkansas and the Bridges Domestic Violence Shelter in Franklin, TN.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
