Verlie R. Hensley

Verlie R. Hensley, 87 of Wheatley Branch Road, Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Saturday, January 2, 2021.

She was born in Lincoln County, WV to William Purkey and Ella Jan Pritchard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Luther Hensley, two daughters, Donna K. Noe and Linda (Purkey) Atwood, three sons, Rickey, Luther Jr, and Gary Paul Hensley, one grandson, Jody Paul Lambert, two sisters, Alma Mae Lucas and Junie Mae Shriver and four brothers, Alive, Bill, French “Snook” and Robert Purkey.

Verlie was a Christian and had the highest faith. She loved the Lord. Verlie was very caring and giving. She loved her family dearly.

Those left to cherish her memory include three daughters, Brenda Adkins, Alice & Con Barker, and Tenna & Eddie Toney; three sons, Phillip & Penny Hensley, Michael Hensley and Steven Hensley; two special daughters-in-law, Angela Hensley and Melissa Hensley; two sisters, Thelma Stowers and Helen Wiley; one brother, John & Karen Purkey; sixteen grandchildren; and eighteen great-grandchildren.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Nurse Jennie and the ICU team at Logan Regional Medical Center.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
