Thomas “Butch” Church, 69 of Harts, WV, departed this life on October 21, 2025 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, WV.

He was born February 28, 1956 in West Hamlin, WV the son of the late Thomas “Tom” Church and Sylvia “Sib” Vance Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Alvena Church, grandparents, Charles & Hazel Nelson Vance, Claude (Gertrude) Church and Mary (Fred) Porter Farley, sisters, Beverly Church, Loretta Adkins, Louise Collins and Leila Vance, brother, Michael Church and in-laws, Odell & Lucinda Adkins.

Butch enjoyed riding motorcycles, dune buggy riding, cooking out, playing poker and spending time with his grandchildren.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, April Mahon; son, Thomas “TC” (Hillary) Church; sisters, Lisa Church and Tenia Church; brothers, Craig (Janean) Church and Anthony Church; grandchildren, Linda “Pinecone” Mahon (Colin Adams), Ashleigh “Pepper” (Isaiah) Tomblin, Brooklyn Freeman and Devin Freeman; great grandchild, Gracey Bailey; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, October 25, 2025 at Freeman Funeral Home with Eric “Tubby” Rakes officiating. Burial will follow at the Rakes Cemetery, Harts, WV.

Visitation will be on Saturday, October 25, 2025 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
