Therese Lynn Amster Obituary

Therese Lynn Amster, 63 of Ironton, Ohio, went to be with the lord on September 2nd, 2024 at home.

She was born February 2, 1961 in West Hamlin, WV the daughter of Winford and Beatrice Moore.

She was preceded in death by parents Winford and Beatrice Moore, sister Elaine Purkey, special niece Lethie Purkey, and her beloved dog Patches.

Therese was a graduate of Harts High School in Harts, West Virginia and Marshall University, where she received a Bachelor’s Degree in English, physical, and special education in addition to playing basketball for the Lady Herd. She had a love and passion for teaching, basketball, softball, gardening, music, and front porch sitting. During her teaching career she was an advocate and coach for the Special Olympics, and loved proper grammar. She devoted her life to taking care of others, and was a retired home health aide from Quality Care Nursing Services. There wasn’t much she couldn’t do, and if she didn’t know how, she would learn or find a way. There was no stain she couldn’t remove, they would lift the first time she looked at them. She also loved to mend things back together, whether that be a broken heart, or a hole in some jeans. She instilled roots, steadfastness, simplicity, and the appreciation of the little things in life into her family, and all who met her. She accomplished much in her life, but her greatest joys were her children and grandchildren, whom she loved with every ounce of her being.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving husband, Roy Amster; children, Anthony Bell of Ironton, Ohio, Olivia (Michael) Black, of Proctorville, Ohio, Brandon Green of Austin, Texas, Regan Amster of Dallas, Texas, Megan Amster and Justin (Macie) Amster of South Point, Ohio; grandchildren, Marlie, TJ, Tawny, Jensen, Levi and Jackson; brothers, Ira (Linda) Moore, of Defiance, Ohio, Randall (Charity) Moore, of Cloverdale, Ohio, Tommy Moore of Milton, WV; her identical twin sister, Vanessa (Robert) Bell of South Point, Ohio; her dog, Moe; and as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
