Silford Miles Browning, 84 of West Hamlin, WV, departed this life on Friday, November 15, 2024 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Huntington, WV.

He was born July 9, 1940 in Harts, WV the son of the late Herman S. and Elizabeth “Lizzie” Toppings Browning.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by father and mother-in-law, Ezra & Jewell Midkiff, two brothers, Glen (Geneva) Browning, and Dave (Betty) Browning and one sister, Opal (Clifford) Dalton.

Miles loved the Lord with all of his heart. He was a proud member and Trustee of Pleasant View Baptist Church. Miles loved being outside working or sitting on the porch. He worked for Amhurst Coal Company and was a member of the UMWA.

Those left to cherish his memory include his beautiful bride of 66 years, Minnie Midkiff Browning; one daughter, Pamela S. Browning; four sons, Neal (Veronica) Browning, Steve (Pam) Browning, Donnie (Leisa) Browning and Ronnie (Angie) Browning; two sisters, Doyle Adkins and Janet Vance; twelve grandchildren, Jereme (Amber) Browning, Jonathan (Kim) Browning, Joseph Browning, Tonya (Chris) Fleming, Sarah (Asa) McCoy, Stevie (April) Browning, Jacob (Maggie) Browning, Trista (Josh) Crawford, Matthew Browning, Alisha (Ray) Maynard, Chandler (Alyssa) Browning and Kaitlyn Browning; twenty-five great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Sunday, November 24, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home with Eric “Tubby” Rakes officiating. Burial will follow at the Browning Cemetery on Manns Knob, Little Harts, WV.

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 23, 2024 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
