Sherry Bowers-Milam Obituary

Sherry Lea Bowers-Milam, otherwise known as Shooie or Sarge, 67, of Crosslanes, West Virginia ascended from this life on May 13th, 2020 at Hubbard House in Charleston, West Virginia with her loving family by her side. 

Sherry’s life began on May 20th, 1952 in Salyersville, Kentucky, and was the beloved daughter of Lois June Bowers, 88 of Mud Fork, W.V., and the late Henry Bowers Jr.  

Sherry shared her early years with her sisters Linda (Dave) Gore, Carol Guthrie, Debbie (Bo) Daniels, and brothers Carson (Beverly) Bowers, and David Bowers.  

Sherry then devoted her love to her surviving spouse Johnny Milam of Crosslanes, W.V. 

Sherry enjoyed life and loved her family with a fierce veracity. Being in her presence meant that smiles and laughter were always guaranteed. Sherry was a warrior, loyal and faithful friend, and treasured wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother. She will always be deeply missed, endlessly loved, and forever in the hearts of those left to cherish her memory. 

In addition to Sherry’s mother, sisters, brothers, and husband she is survived by her daughter Chantelle (Larry) Halley; step-daughter Amanda Milam; stepsons Denver and Johnny D. Milam; granddaughters Shelly (Checko) Collins, Stacy (Lil Joe) Runyon, Courtney Mullins, Abigail Shirkey, Gabriella Shirkey, and Brooklyn Milam; grandsons Chris Maynard, Matthew Mullins, Ezekiel Shirkey, 

and Nathan Milam; and great-grandchildren Blake and Keira Bowen, Reece and Sophie Collins, Josie Runyon, Cash and Callie Miller; in-laws Rita Milam and Marsha Collins; and a loving congregation of nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

Graveside Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 at 12:00 pm at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road Chapmanville, WV.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
