Shelia Ann Adkins, age 68, of Logan, WV, went to her heavenly home while surrounded by loved ones on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington, KY. 

Shelia was born May 4, 1956, in West Hamlin, WV, to the late Jerry and Madeline Maynard.  

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Willard Adkins, her son Willard Adkins, Jr, Sister Sylvia Nelson, Brothers, Owen Maynard and Randy Maynard

Affectionately known as Sheil to those who knew and loved her, she took great pride in taking care of her family, especially her grandsons Jarrett and Mason, and loved nothing more than spoiling her family with her delicious cooking, a skill she passed on to her daughter Rita.  She enjoyed fishing at East Lynn Lake with her husband in her younger years.  She was always up for going on an adventure with her sister Joyce.  At home, she could be found watching the cowboy shows that reminded her of her childhood, shopping on QVC, birdwatching, porch sitting, or flexing her green thumb with her beautiful flowers.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Robert (Gina) Adkins and Rita (Eric) Skidmore, and grandsons, Jarrett (Sadie) Adkins, and Mason Skidmore.  Her sister Joyce Maynard who she loved like her own daughter with whom she resided, Daughter-in-law Elaine Adkins, Sisters Wanda Nelson, and Bonnie (Willis) Hensley, Brother Ricky Maynard, and a host of other relatives and friends.  

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Salem, Dr. Marzouk, Tiffany Butcher, NP, Dr. Faridi, Star Wallace, NP, Dr. Mullen, the staff on the 5th floor, IMCU, and CCU at LRMC.  We appreciate all your efforts and the great care you gave to our sweet mother.  

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Freeman Funeral Home in Chapmanville, WV with Richard Belcher officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens at Chapmanville, WV.

Friends may visit the funeral home on Tuesday, March 18 2025 from 6-9 pm.

Pallbearers will be Eric Skidmore, Mason Skidmore, Jarrett Adkins, Willis Hensley, Christopher Hensley, and Nathaniel Hensley.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of arrangements.
