Sharon Kaye Newsome Johnson reached her heavenly destination on December 1, 2024 from ARH 
Regional Medical Center in South Williamson KY.
Born on April 2, 1949 in Holden, WV to the late Paul and Delilah (Vance) Newsome. In addition to her 
parents she was preceded in death by her husband Roger Lee Johnson; her only child, her son Roger Scott 
Johnson; two grandchildren, Renee Hensley and Calvin Tyler Hensley; an infant baby brother Franklin 
Delano Newsome and her brother Orville Ray (Buck) Newsome.
Sharon began her Christian journey at the Dingess FWB Church at Dingess, WV. After moving from 
Dingess she attended the Parsley Bottom FWB Church at Lenore, WV. She loved singing in the choir, in a 
Christian group at Dingess, as well as solos. She loved working with the children on the church until her 
health no longer permitted it. She was a very good cook and she loved having big dinners for her family 
and friends. She worked for many years as secretary at the Mingo Christian School, then went on to work 
and retire from the Mingo County DHHR in Williamson, WV.
Those left to cherish her memory are her brother, Carlos (Bo) Newsome of Naugatuck, WV; three sisters, 
Essie (Henry) Penny of Mechanicsville, Va., Margie Parsley of Delbarton, WV, and Paula (Albert) Runyon 
of Myrtle, WV; one grandson, Evan Young of Tennessee, and a very special cousin (who is more like a 
sister) Elizabeth Gayle Newsome Hodge of Myrtle, WV, and a host of family and friends.
A celebration of life will be held to honor Sharon on Saturday, December 14, 2024 at Parsley Bottom Freewill Baptist Church at 12:00pm with John Taylor officiating, private graveside services will be held at a later date. 
Visitation services from 12:00pm until 3:00pm on December 14, 2024 at the church.
