Samuel “Sammy” Vance, 79 of Waynesville, NC formerly of Holden, WV, departed this life on March 6, 2025, at the Haywood Regional Medical Center, in Waynesville, NC.

He was born June 25, 1945, in Holden, WV the son of the late Joseph and Julia Vance.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father and mother-in-law, Elzie & Mary Harless.

Sammy enjoyed going to church, spending time with friends, visiting with his children, and going to the beach. He loved old cars and working with them. Sammy was a car salesman for many years.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 60 years, Wanda Vance; sons, Jerry Vance and Mike Vance; close friends, Roland Browning, Gary Vance and Ed Thomas.

Services will be held at 12:00pm, Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Freeman Funeral Home with Roland Browning officiating. Burial will follow at the Mountain View Memory Gardens, in Maher, WV.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 11:00am until 12:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Mike Vance, Jerry Vance, Don Pridemore, Ed Thomas, Tommy Vinson and Bobby Fortner.
