Ryan Mullins Obituary

Ryan Chance Mullins, 22, of Harts, WV, departed this life on Friday, June 11, 2021 following a vehicle accident on U.S. 119 near the Alum Creek exit. Ryan had worked thirteen days and was finally coming home from Virginia to spend a couple days with family and friends.

Ryan or “Red” as he was known to many was born January 17, 1999 at Cabell Huntington Hospital in Huntington, WV. Ryan is the son of Johnny A. Mullins, Jr. and Erica (Kirk) Mullins, both of Harts, WV.

Ryan was preceded in death by his brother, Wade Patrick Mullins who passed from Leukemia at the age of 17 on February 1, 2018. He grieved the loss of Wade day and night. We take great joy knowing he has been reunited with his little brother in Heaven. Ryan was recently baptized in March of 2021 and was a member of the Church of Christ. He was raised a new man and was learning to navigate his life as a Christian among a world of struggles and temptations, yet he faced each challenge head-on and frequently called his mom, dad and other family members who are Christians for advice and prayers. It goes without saying that we, his family, are so very proud of Ryan's decision to give his life to Christ and are beyond thankful that the Lord spared him the time and opportunity to do so before calling him home just a little more than a month later. Ryan was also preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Georgia & Howard Dalton and Jessie & Ersie Mullins, Lawrence & Mima Kirk, and Charlie & Betty Paris.

Anyone who knew Ryan knew his favorite pastime was riding his side by side and spending the nights at his camp with his friends. He loved “coon hunting”, especially with Wade and hunting deer, turkey and squirrel anytime he had the opportunity. Ryan listened to country music and had the World's largest playlist and was always excited to introduce one to a new song. Listening to music was his therapy and it was his companion. Ryan was a 2017 graduate of Chapmanville Regional High School. He was employed with Liberty Management on behalf of American Electric Power in Virginia. He is and will always be missed by all who loved him, though none will miss him more than mom and dad. We long for the day we will see his smiling face and hear his laughter again. We keep the faith that we will hold hands with our sons, Ryan and Wade, in Heaven and walk the streets of gold together.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his step-father, Wade Scaggs; his grandparents, Johnny Mullins Sr & Narlene Mullins, and Randall & Elaine Kirk all of Harts, his uncle, Andy (Alicia) Mullins of Wayne, WV and loving cousin to their daughters, Harper Penelope Mullins and Hazel Mullins who will soon make her way into the world in 2021. Ryan was a special “Bubby Ryan” to Shealynn Fraker and special brother to Hudson. He also leaves behind a band of “brothers and “sisters” and there was rarely a day when they were apart. Although Ryan was kind to all and remained ready to make a new friend anywhere on any day. All of the above and many aunts, uncles, and cousins are left to cherish his memory forever more.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, June 17, 2021 at the High Adventure Church, Fleming Drive, Harts, WV with Dave Lucas and Van Collins officiating. Entombment will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.
