Ruth Ferrell, 90 of Holden, WV, formerly of Blair, WV, went home to be with the Lord on May 1, 2024 at Logan, WV.

She was born April 9, 1934 in Blair, WV the daughter of Oliver and Velvie Baldwin.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James “Bud” Ferrell; one daughter, Phyllis “Honey” McNeely; six sisters, Sophie Withrow, Helen Grimmett, Jo-ann Williams, Ruby Williams and Betty Baldwin; one brother, Norman “Jr” Baldwin; two sons-in-law, Tom Burgess and Weezie McNeely.

Ruth enjoyed attending church where she was a member at #7 Holden Freewill Baptist Church. She spent many of her years making hot dogs at the Four-Way Market at Ethel. She loved Christmas and spending time with her family. Ruth always had a smile on her face and never met a stranger.

Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Karen Sue Burgess; three grandchildren, Connie (George) Altizer, Tommy Burgess, Scotty (April) Burgess all of Holden, WV; six great grandchildren, Morgan Torres, Victoria Frye, Hailey (Ryan) Toler, Brandon (Alexia Martin) Altizer, Tristan and Caleb Burgess; two great-great grandchildren, Grayson Torres and Mason Toler; one brother, Paul Baldwin of Chapmanville, WV; one sister, Billie Nida of Danville, WV; a host of nieces and nephews and her church family.

The family would like to thank the 5th floor staff at Logan Regional Medical Center and Dignity Care.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Kimler and Honorary Pastor John Rodney Spears officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Dale Workman, Jason Spears, David Robinson, and Family and Friends.
