Ruth Dalton Obituary
Ruth Dalton, 86 of Harts, WV, went home to be with the Lord on November 19, 2024 in Logan, WV.
She was born February 26th, 1938 the daughter of the late Mosco and Bertha Dingess.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Kermit "Stump" Dalton, daughter, Deborah Dalton Dingess, and six siblings, Gladys Kirk, Ernestine Garibaldi, Beatrice Walker, James Dingess, Bill Dingess, and Eugene Dingess.
Ruth's greatest passion in life was teaching the Word of God. She had a unique gift and ability to communicate and connect to any age group. She had a particular love for her young adult class where she discipled countless people for years. She loved to teach on the work and gifts of the Holy Spirit and Bible prophecy. Ruth was considered a great mentor by many and ministered with great passion and love. She was known for opening her home to anyone, and was an incredible woman of prayer. In addition to her work in the ministry, she was a published author, Mary Kay consultant, beautician and beauty shop owner, and aide in the Lincoln County School system. She did not retire from her work in public education until the age of 79. She was a true people person who loved to serve and pray for others no matter the circumstance.
Within her family she was known for being the best Christmas hostess, but was admittedly not a great cook due to her easy going nature and strong willed belief that any ingredient could be substituted. She was a voracious reader and loved to read and reread books of nearly any genre. She loved to travel and cherished her trips to the beach and California above all.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Rick (Valerie) Dalton of Logan, WV and Scotty Dalton of Harts, WV; four grandchildren, Katie Endicott, Isaac Dingess, Jeremiah Dalton, and Kristi Dalton; seven great grandchildren, Emma Endicott, Noah Endicott, Rowan Dingess, Sophia Dingess, Knox Dingess, Landree Dingess, and Amelia Dalton; special nieces Kaye Triplett, Darlene Dingess-Adkins, Jackie McCann, and Marcia Lucas; special great nieces Laura Carter and Tinia Creamer; longtime pastors and spiritual mentors Jack and Judy Logan, and a host of other family members and friends. Her niece Kaye was particularly devoted to her care and never missed delivering Sunday dinner or taking her to hair appointments.
Friends may gather with the family for the visitation Monday, November 25th from 12 PM- 2 PM at Chapman Memorial Freewill Baptist (The Tabernacle). Services will commence at 2 PM with Rev. Tony Dingess, Rev. Katie Endicott, Rev. Rick Dalton, and Pastor Joe Triplett officiating. Burial will follow at Sias-Lambert Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jeremiah Dalton, Isaac Dingess, John Creamer, Ashley Dalton, John Lucas, and Christian Stratton.
Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Dalton, Tony Dingess, and Barry Dempsey.
Ruth's faith and strength was always found in Christ and her spiritual heritage will continue for generations to come.
2 Timothy 4:7-8
I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness.
