Russell Keenis Burgess, 79 of Jeffery, WV, departed this life on August 26, 2024 at home.

He was born December 24, 1944 in Accoville, WV the son of the late Jessie James and Polly Ruth Ann Burgess.

In addition to his parents he was proceeded in death by four sister, Patty Ferguson, Lois Lundy, Mary Ann Burgess and Nora Burgess; five brothers, William Carlos Burgess, Denny Ray Burgess, Frank Eugene Burgess, Ozie Burgess and Roger Burgess.

Russell loved watching his westerns and wrestling. He loved being with his family. He loved his cat baby.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Janet Burgess; two daughters, Stacie (Bradley) Burgess and Jamie (Dave) Burgess; two sisters, Phyllis (Greg) Tipton and Janice Gay Booth; two brothers, Larry (Patrica) Burgess and Milliard (Kathy) Burgess; two sisters-in-law, Reene Burgess and Marie Burgess: four grandchildren, Brayden and Branden Klingensmith, Logan (Kaitlyn) Mullins and Jacob Mooney; and two great-grandchildren, Kailan Mullins and Grayson Scott Mullins.

Services will be held at 2:00pm, Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home with Joe Lane and Denny Evans officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.

Visitation will be on Monday, September 2, 2024 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Milliard Burgess, Donald Adkins, Richard Burgess, William Burgess, Raymond Booth, Nick Burgess, Scottie Adkins, Roger Burgess, and Logan Mullins.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
