Richie Hensley

Richie Hensley, 84, of Browns Run, Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at his residence. 

He was born August 11, 1935 in Logan, WV, the son of the late Monroe & Melinda Hensley. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Hensley, one daughter, Wanda Lesher, one son, Eddie Hensley, four brothers and two sisters. 

Richie was a Christian for 65 years and was a deacon for many years.  He loved going to church, spending time with his family and mornings at Hardee’s.  Richie enjoyed telling old tales and sitting on the porch with his dog Buddy. 

Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Diann Fowler and her husband John and Peggy Rockel and her husband Mark; two sons, Larry Hensley and his wife Tina and Frank Hensley and his wife Georgette; one brother, Tolbert Hensley; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth (Dan) Dresling, Johnny (Kim) Fowler, David Lesher, Bucky (Crystal) Fowler, Brittany Rockel, Gavin Hensley, Mark Rockel and Amanda Hensley; five great-grandchildren, Sierra, Katelynn, Halie, Aiden and Bentley; and a special friend, Manasses Hensley Jr. 

The family would like to thank Dr. Lafferty, Dr. James Stollings, and Dignity Hospice. 

Services will be held at 12:00 pm, Saturday, May 2, 2020 at Richie’s home on Browns Run, with Rev. Manasses Hensley Jr officiating. Burial will follow at the Hall Cemetery, Browns Run, Chapmanville, WV. 

Visitation will be on Saturday, May 2, 2020 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm at his home. 

Pallbearers will be Johnny, Bucky, David, Mark, Gavin, and Jerry. 

Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny and Bucky. 

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
