Richard Adkins Obituary

God called his Faithful Servant, Richard Adkins, home to be with the Lord on March 8, 2026 at Dingess, WV.


He was born May 11, 1955 in Logan, WV the son of the late Leonard and Corine Adkins.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard & Corine, to whom he was a caregiver, brother, Dallas Adkins and nephew Jason Adkins.


Richard was a member of the Mudfork Freewill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon under Pastor Elbert “Jr” Collins whom he loved dearly. He was also the overseer of the building fund and on the board of trustees. Richard also loved singing in church. He was a retired miner who loved being outdoors, hunting, classic cars and trucks, mowing grass (yes he loved it) and spending time in and around the church. He also loved spending time with his friends and family.


Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 51 years, Regina Adkins; son, Jeremy (Katrina) Adkins of Dingess; sister, Mary Iris Adkins of Dingess; brother, Larry (Kelli) Adkins of Harts; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.


Services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, March 13, 2026 at Mudfork Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Frankie Frye and Rev. Michael Mullins officiating. Burial will follow at the Blair Family Cemetery at Dingess, WV.


Visitation will be on Friday, March 13, 2026 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at the church.


Pallbearers will be Shane Adkins, Jonathan Blair, Justin Walters, Steven Mullins, Michael Spry, Isaac Walters and Mike Marcum.


Honorary pallbearers will be Marvin Tomblin, Wandle Meeks, Gary Meeks, Butch Watkins, Lucian Maynard, Sam Adams and James Carter.


Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
