Phyllis Joyce (Booher) Katz Obituary
Phyllis Joyce (Booher) Katz, 90 of Elyria, OH, went to be with the Lord, September 27, 2024, at after a brief illness. Phyllis was a West Virginia born girl at Stirrat, West Virginia, October 15, 1933, to the parents of the late Haskell and Helen (Truly) Stamper formerly of Wilkinson, WV. Maternal Grandparents were the late George and Effie (Doyle) Truly of Austria-Hungary. The Paternal Grandparents were the late Rev. G. D. Stamper and the late Bama Stamper of West Virginia.
Phyllis was proceeded in death by her husbands, Louis Booher and Allen Katz. Her children also proceeded were her daughters, Helen Booher, Karen Booher, and son Robert Booher. Her siblings that are deceased are Garrett (Dottie) Stamper, Sonja (Tom) Thomas, and her brother David Stamper, who was killed in the Vietnam Conflict.
She is survived by her brother, Rev. George (Marsha) Stamper; one sister, Debbie (Paul) Evans; a special friend, Sally Alkire; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Phyllis loved spending time with her family and church family. She knitted dishclothes and gave them to everyone. She was an avid crossword puzzle worker.
She worked the puzzle in the newspaper everyday. Phyllis faced many obstacles in her life and gave God the praise for seeing her through. She had a saying about life “you have two choices, you can choose to be bitter or you can choose to be better.”
Friends will be received on Friday, October 4th at Bush Family Funeral Chapel from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Pastor Randy McKenny will be officiating with assistance of Rev. George Stamper. Burial will follow in Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria, Ohio near her husband and children. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
