Opie Brumfield, 98 of Little Harts Creek, Harts, WV, departed this life on October 1, 2024 at his daughter's residence.

He was born July 26, 1926 in Ranger, WV, the son of the late Paris and Julie Brumfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Brumfield, son, Bethel Brumfield, grandson, Junior Dingess, great grandson, Gregory Dingess Jr, grandparents, John & Susan Brumfield and Mose & Francis Lucas, brothers, Con, Lon, John, Bernie and Bob Brumfield, five sisters, Tan Nelson, Chess Hicks, Mae Nelson, Maxine Watts and Sadie Vance and his father and mother-in-law, Linzie & George Miller.

Opie enjoyed fishing, hunting and gardening.

Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Genevieve (Johnnie) Dingess and Dorthy (Mose) Maynard; two sons, Glen (Gail) Brumfield and William Brumfield; eleven grandchildren, Allen, Drema, April, Melissa, Christal, Jeff, Jason, Sylvia, Regina, Jennifer and Samantha; and twenty-seven great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank his special granddaughter April Dingess for all the help taking care of Opie in his last days.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, October 4, 2024 at the Little Harts Freewill Baptist Church with Thomas Watts and Jimmy Carter officiating. Burial will follow at the John Wesley Nelson Cemetery, Ranger, WV.

Visitation will be on Friday, October 4, 2024 from 12:00pm until 1:00pm at the church.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will Allen Dingess.
