Nellie Jean Sperry, 76 of North Fork of Big Creek, WV, departed this life on September 16, 2024 at her residence with her family by her side.

She was born January 14, 1948 in Logan, WV the daughter of the late Gilbert W. and Roxy Opal Workman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Sperry, grandparents, Enic & Sara Lewis Workman and Doc & Flori Workman, sisters, Brenda Toppings and Janice Sperry, brothers, Joseph Workman and Jimmy Workman and her in-laws, Dewey H and Myrtel M. Sexton Sperry.

Nellie enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, photography, crocheting and spending time with family.

Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Linda L. (Jamie) Buckner; three sons, Herbert L. (Lisa) Sperry, Robert E. Sperry and Gene R. (Brianne) Sperry; four sisters, Margie (Bebo) Sperry, Darnell (Dewey) Sperry, Dianh (Allen) Dortan and Drema Workman; four brothers, Creed Workman, Delmar Workman, Wayne Workman and Glen Workman; twelve grandchildren, Missy Elkins, Kim Fowler, Andrew Sperry, Sheena Tarkenton, Robert E. Sperry Jr, Nichoals Sperry, Robert Sperry, Christian Ball, Noah Ball, Colton Sperry, Camron Sperry and Tucker Sperry; and a host of great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home with Earl Hill officiating. Burial will follow at the Estep Branch Family Cemetery, at Big Ugly, WV.

Visitation will be on September 22, 2024 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Little Earl, Nick Sperry, Noah Ball, Glen Workman, Mickey Sperry, Johnny Sperry, Jimmy Sperry, and Jayson Sperry.
