Michael Fleming Obituary

Michael Fleming, 69 of Dingess, WV, departed this life on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV.


He was born July 1, 1956, in Logan, WV, the son of Rebecca Fleming and the late Anthony Fleming.


In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Debbie Fragnino; paternal grandparents, John and Susie Fleming; maternal grandparents, Johnny and Minerva Conn; niece, Tiffany Gilman; and in-laws, Auddie and Joyce Nelson.


Michael enjoyed fishing, root digging, spending time with family and friends, finding copper, and being with his wife, Shelia.


In addition to his mother, those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 18 years, Shelia Nelson Fleming; daughters, Angela Fleming and Sheena Fillinger; sons, Cody Nelson and his baby boy, Nick Nelson; sisters, Lana (Thurman) Lackey, Tammie (Flip) Ooten, and Ladybug Fleming; two brothers, Ink Fleming and T. C. (Kayla) Fleming, Aiden and Kynlee Fleming; one brother-in-law, Mark Fragnino; four grandchildren, Ray Ray and Colton Adams, Kelly “Promise” Woldford, Reagan “Shaybug” Payge, Carter “Amari” Wolford and Tucker “Rah Rah”; special nieces, Yvonna “Cooter” (Evan) Vance, Deven (Faith) Vance, Heather “Heddie” (Bobby) Mattingly, Olivia, Cassie, Penelope, Zachariah Mattingly, and Flip Ooten Jr.; and special friends, Zachary Conley (Olivia Dillon), Bennett, James “Cool” McCloud, Fala (Shawn) Sparks, Rylee, Addie, and Eian Sparks.


Services will be held at 1:00pm, Monday, March 16, 2026, at Mudfork Freewill Baptist Church with Greg Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the Fleming Cemetery, Dingess, WV.


Visitation will be on Sunday, March 15, 2026, beginning at 6:00pm at the church.


Pallbearers will be Nick Nelson, Flip Ooten Jr., Zach Conley, Mark Fragnino, James “Cool” McCloud and Jacob Newsome.


Honorary Pallbearer will be Johnny (Inky) Fleming.


Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
