Merrill Joy Meade, 89 of Dingess, WV, departed this life on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Logan Regional Medical Center.

She was born September 15, 1935, in Dingess, WV, the daughter of the late Lewis and Elva Meade.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Anna Scarberry; brothers, Wendell “Cheater” Meade and Willard “Bud” Meade; nephew, J. W. Meade; and brothers-in-law, Scott Scarberry and Danny Hamaker.

Joy enjoyed going to church, reading, jigsaw puzzles, sitting in the sunshine and socializing with her friends and family.

Those left to cherish her memory include sisters, Opal Hamaker of Omar and Norma Gay (Tom) Caudill of Parkersburg; sisters-in-law, Linda Meade and Sue Meade; and cousin, Judy Taylor.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at the funeral home.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Monday, February 24, 2025, at Freeman Funeral Home with Rev. Cornelius Lackey officiating. Burial will follow at the Highland Memory Gardens Chapmanville, WV.

Pallbearers will be Scott Wilson, Barry Hainer, Roger Marcum, Steven Sparks, Don Newsome and Brad Scarberry.
