Melissa Dawn Stevenson (Chaney) entered this world October 4th of 1978 at Logan Regional Medical Center and departed at her residence on October 5th of 2023.
Melissa grew up on Upper Crawley Creek Road with her parents John and Peggy Chaney as well as her two siblings John and Jamie Chaney, who she shared a very close bond with.
In her 20’s, Melissa was interviewed at Bob Evans by the general manager Charley Stevenson, who she then shared the rest of her life with and created a love that no one could ever possibly understand or replace. It was love at first sight and they were undoubtedly soulmates. With Charley came two children, both under the age of 10 at the time, who needed an extra mother figure. Mikayla and Isaac Stevenson. Not long after came “her boys”, Jacob and Alex Stevenson who always kept her going and on her toes. As life went on she then received two grandchildren, Scarlett Durham and Hendrix Frye. To say she loved being a grandma would be an understatement. In her spare time, you could find Melissa talking about the ups and downs of life with her sister Jamie, chasing two grandchildren around, working on a new creative project with her husband, or tending to the farm and the animals that resided there. The family will forever be left with a void that only her presence could have filled.
Per her request, there will not be a viewing, but will be buried in the Stevenson Family Cemetery at 2pm on October 11th of 2023.
Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
