Mary F. (Hay) Baisden Obituary

Mary F. Hay Baisden, 71 of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on February 16, 2025 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV.


She was born October 1, 1953 in Kenova, WV the daughter of the late Millard Hay and Mary Louise Hutchinson Hay.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Alma Baisden, Janie Alvord, Bruce Perdue, Don Perdue, Cliff Perdue, James Douglas Hay, Herman Hay, Bobby Hay, Maggie Staley, Mildred Raye, Jimmy Hay, Herbert Hay, Russell Hay and Homer Hay, father and mother-in-law, Thurmond Baisden and Effie Mae Marcum, and her extended brothers and sisters, Darlene & Carl Marcum, Thurmond “Okey” Leslie, Leslie “Bug” Thurmond and Brenda & Brian Newman.


Mary loved her husband, children and fur babies. She also loved to read books, crochet, play cards, her marigolds, bologna sandwiches and her stuffed animals. Mary was known as “Gam” to many.


Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, John Marshall Baisden; daughter, Sarah J. Larsen; , sons, John P. (Jessica) Baisden and Paul W. (Danielle) Baisden; sisters, Phyllis Doss, Josephine Watts, Lois Baisden and Sally Callahan; brother, Bill Perdue; grandchildren, Jesse (Kennedy) Larsen, Hunter “Catfish” Baisden, Emily Baisden, Alissa Maynard, Ariana Baisden, and Lana “Bean” Baisden; extended brothers and sisters, Effie “Kay Diddle” (Emmett) Blankenship, Donna Bishop, Glenna Hurt, Tammy (Randy) Bosiger, Jean Wheatley, Marie Baisden, David Baisden, and Michael Baisden; she is also survived by her lifelong friends, Debra Curry Pritt and Nola Martin; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.


Services will be held at 1:00pm, Thursday, February 20, 2025 at Freeman Funeral Home with Jeff Mosteller officiating. Burial will follow at the Hay-Baisden Family Cemetery, in Chapmanville, WV.


Visitation will be on Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at the funeral home.


Pallbearers will be John P. Baisden, Fred Daniels, Jesse Larsen, Hunter Baisden, Dave Mitchem, and Michael “Corky” Baisden.


Honorary pallbearer will be James Douglas Baisden.


Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
