Luranie “Ranie” Whittington, 47 of Scott Depot, WV, departed this life on August 15, 2024 at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, WV.

She was born June 12, 1977 in Hamlin, WV the daughter of Darrell Christian of Harts, WV and the late Christina Christian.

In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Herman & Dorothy Kennard and McGinnis & Luranie (Dane) Christian and her father-in-law, Benny Whittington.

Ranie loved spending time with her grandkids and her children, drinking coffee and going on adventures with her husband. She also loved to tan, talking with friends and making everyone laugh.

In addition to her father, those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Ben Whittington of Scott Depot, daughters, Salena (Josh) Messer of Harts, Sidney (Dakota) Kirk of Nitro and Alissa Whittington of Scott Depot; son, Benjamin (Kayla) Whittington of Scott Depot; sisters, Helen (Jason) Adkins of Harts and Jane (Allen) Browning of Chapmanville; brothers, William (Lori Casto) Christian of Salt Rock, Joseph Christian, John (Paula) Christian, Michael (Sam) Christian, Quincy (Tasha) Christian and Willis Christian all of Harts, WV; grandchildren, Alexandria Messer, Blake Messer, Kyren May and Miles May; her mothers-in-law, Loretta Tackett and Alice Whittington; she is also survived by, Holly Whittington of Charleston, Savannah Christian of Chapmanville, Hailey Christian of Harts and Quinten Christian of Harts.

Services will be held at 7:00pm, Monday, August 19, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Doug Doss officiating.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 19, 2024 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.
