Lonnie Fleming, 88, of Harts, WV, departed this life on April 24, 2023 at his residence.
He was born January 15, 1935 in Harts, WV, the son of the late Saul & Maggie Fleming.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emerald Fleming, brothers, Garland, Bobby, Billy, and Elmer Fleming, sisters, Ruth Fleming and Sue Browning, grandson, Leon Walker and his father and mother-in-law, Willis & Roxie Adkins.
Lonnie was a member of Workman Fork United Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Phyllis (Bucky) Dempsey and Ada (Tony) Tomblin both of Harts; one son, Lonnie Fleming Jr; one sister, Brenda (Charlie) Blankenship of Cow Creek; one brother, Claude Fleming of Harts; five grandchildren, Kent Dempsey, Andrew Tomblin, Oliver Walker, Lisa Hawkins and Chris Walker; eleven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and church family.
The family would like to thank Valley Health at Harts and Dignity Hospice for all their care and compassion.
Services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, April 28, 2023 at Freeman Funeral Home with Millard Hensley, Manasses Hensley Jr and Frankie Frye officiating. Burial will follow at the Dalton Cemetery, Harts, WV.
Visitation will be on Thursday, April 27, 2023 from 6:00pm – 9:00pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Bucky Dempsey, Kent Dempsey, Tony Tomblin, Andrew Tomblin, Rodney Workman, Oliver Walker and Thomas Walker.
Honorary pallbearers will be Theron Conley, Ray Ferrell and Joker Kirk.
Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
