Lloyd (Rocky) Frye, 68, passed peacefully April 29, 2021, in his home in Melbourne, Florida. He was born September 13, 1952, in West Hamlin, WV, the son of Lloyd (deceased) and Jewell (Pack) Frye.
Rocky graduated from Harts High School, Class of 1971. Following graduation, he served with the U.S. Army in Germany during the Vietnam War. After his time in the service, he pursued his career in Electronic Engineering which took him to El Paso, Texas, where he met and married his wife, Ruthie Herman, and they settled in El Paso. They celebrated 33 years of marriage in December 2020. Rocky’s job took him all over the US including overseas. Other than travel, his other love was music. His father taught him how to play the guitar and the passion continued through his life.
Surviving in addition to his mother, Jewell (Pack) Frye and his wife, Ruthie (Herman) Frye; are his step sons, James Davis and his wife Yolanda of Amarillo, Texas; Jason Ruz of Midland Texas; two grandsons, Kevin Davis of Dallas, Texas and Nicholas Davis of Amarillo, Texas; four sisters and one brother, Tanja Williamson of Ranger, WV, Shelia Frye and her husband, Joe, of West Hamlin, WV, Beverly Terrill and her husband Don (deceased) of Portage, MI, Terrill Frye and his wife Kristie of Pennsylvania; Cecilia Price of Ranger, WV; one sister-in-law and two brothers-in law, Janet Baker and her husband Rusty of Moses Lake, WA, Ronald Herman and his wife Donna of Amarillo, TX, Donald Herman and his wife Cindi of Midland, TX; many nieces and nephews.
A service of remembrance will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8 at Freeman Funeral Home at 220 Main Ave, Chapmanville, WV. Those who wish to remember Rocky in a special way can send flowers or make gifts to Big Dog Rescue at www.bdrr.org
