Leona Sue McCoy, 60 of Dingess, WV, departed this life on November 24, 2024, at the Logan Center Nursing Home.

She was born November 26, 1963, in Phelps, KY the daughter of the late Bradley and Helen Dotson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Samuel McCoy, her daughter, Shantana McCoy, sisters, Deborah Tiller and Nira Cook; brothers, Michael Fonner, Benny Dotson and Homer Childers.

Leona enjoyed spending time with family and friends and loved making jokes to make people laugh.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Samuel McCoy II; stepson, J.D. Canterbury; two sisters, Tina Searles and Lori Belcher; one brother, Lowell “PunkinHead” Farley; Jazmine Marcum and Bryce Marcum who she claimed as her own grandchildren; special friends, Janie Hall, Sherelene Conley, and Lynn Adams; and a host of nieces and nephews who she loved.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at the East Fork Church of God with Greg Taylor officiating. Burial will follow at the McCoy Cemetery, Dingess, WV.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, from 10:00am to 1:00pm at the church.

Pallbearers will be Rufus “Bub” Wallace, Patrick Marcum, Alvin Hall, Alex Williams, Philip Martinez and Chris Marcum.

Honorary pallbearer will be Robert Crum.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
