Larry Dale Thompson, 73 of Ranger, WV, departed this life on June 22, 2025 in Circleville, OH surrounded by his two children.

He was born April 11, 1952 in Logan, WV the son of the late Harold & Jewell Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, Iris Thompson, his brother, Gary Thompson, nephew, Justin Thompson and brothers-in-law, Tracy Toppins and Bill Storey.

Larry and Iris was married on September 7, 1972. Larry was a retired coal miner. He loved spending time with his grandchildren, going to church, working in the garden, hunting and fishing.

Those left to cherish his memory include his two children, Renae Thompson of Ranger and Stewart (Bridget) Thompson of Harts; four grandchildren, Abby “Squirt” Thompson, MaKayla “Sissy” Thompson, Larry “Rag Man” Thompson and Jacob “Jake the Snake” Thompson; three brothers, Keith (Rhonda) Thompson, Randy (Janet) Thompson, and Roger (Ann) Thompson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Kay (Stimie) Tomblin, Loretta Toppins, Violet Storey and Sherry Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family and friends.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, June 27, 2025 at Freeman Funeral Home with Dennie Surgoine and Johnny Workman officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.

Visitation will be on Thursday, June 26, 2025 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
