Kathern E. Dearfield, 74 of Big Creek, WV, departed this life on May 3, 2024 at her residence surrounded by her family.

She was born January 15, 1950 in Manila, WV the daughter of the late Luther Barker and Mildred Berry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Marshall Dearfield, great grandson, Lennox Hepler, sister, Brenda Ellis Farmer and her father and mother-in-law, Fred & Eva Dearfield.

Kathern was a high school graduate and was in the choir. She worked at Guyan Machinery, Inc., and was a cosmetologist attending the White Cross and Grace College of Beauty Culture in 1966. Kathern enjoyed Crocheting, playing Yahtzee, good food and traveling and attended Tony Christian Fellowship.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Connie Hepler and her husband, Steven; three sisters, Judy Butcher Curry, Sue White, and Mary (Hutch) Hutchinson; two grandchildren, Steven Hepler Jr (Courtney) and Preston Hepler (Chastidy); one great-grandchild, Levi Hepler; special friends, Robert & Judy Workman; and her brother in Christ, Richard Allen.

Services will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home with Donnie Wells officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Steven Hepler, Steven Hepler Jr, Preston Hepler, Robert Workman and Richard Allen.
