Junie Mae Shriver, 77, of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on February 13, 2020 peacefully in her loving home.
She was born July 3, 1942 in Logan, WV, the daughter of the late William H. Purkey and Ella J. (Pritchard) Purkey.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Shriver Sr, four brothers, Alvie, Emmitt, French and William Purkey, one sister, Alma Lucas, her mother-in-law, Mae Justice and her father-in-law, Ward Shriver.
Junie Mae was a faithful member of Gospel Truth Baptist Church at Stone Branch. She worked for the board of education for 33 years, where she touched many lives of the students and those around her. Junie Mae was a loving mother and grandmother. She was dedicated to her work and helping others. Junie's welcoming smile will always be remembered by everyone she encountered.
Those left to cherish her memory include one son, Jack L, Shriver Jr and his wife Terri Shriver; one granddaughter, Jasmine Shriver; three sisters, Thelma Stowers, Ruth Hensley, and Helen Stowers; one brother, John Purkey and his wife Karen; sister-in-law, Jill Mullins and her husband Oney; the mother of her granddaughter, Pam Shriver.
The family would like to send their love and thanks to Dignity Hospice for all they've done for our Junie Mae and for us.
Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, February 19, 2020 at Freeman Funeral Home with Preacher Wayne Miller officiating and Stephen Adams singing. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Toney, Mike Hensley, Steve Hensley, Kevin Stollings, Robert Purkey and Bernard Hager.
