Julia Lane Varney, 65 of Big Creek, WV, departed this life on October 26, 2025 at her residence.

She was born June 28, 1960 in West Hamlin, WV the daughter of the late Leonard & Berdie “Jewel” Dalton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Teddy Varney, brothers, Arvil Dalton, Winford Dalton and Barry Dalton, sister, Edra Vance and her special nephew, Barry Joseph Dalton.

Julia enjoyed going to church and spending time with all the children in her life. She loved her puppy Belle, who stayed beside her until her final breath.

Those left to cherish her memory include her sisters, Sharon Adkins of Harts, Bonnie (Wayne) Manns of West Hamlin, Kathy (Rodney) Kitchen of Whitman, and Judith (Ernest) Lambert of Harts; brother, Paul (Bertha) Dalton of Workman Fork; very special friend, James Surgoine; her puppy, Belle; and a host of wonderful nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2:00pm, Monday, November 3, 2025 at Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Bryant officiating. Burial will follow at the Dalton Cemetery, at Frances Creek, Harts, WV.

Visitation will be on Monday, November 3, 2025 from 1:00pm until 2:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Ernie Lambert, Joshua Vance, Jarrod Vance, Blake Vance, Kevin Manns, and Hunter Brumfield.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ernest Lambert and Carl Byrge.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
