Judith Ann (Brumfield) Howell, 78, of Milton, W.Va., died peacefully in her own bed and in the loving presence of her family on April 19, 2021 at Wyngate Senior Living in Barboursville, W.Va.
Judy was the eldest daughter of the late Lester and Lorraine (Bledsoe) Brumfield. Judy loved making a warm and welcoming home, traveling, and taking care of her family. A Christian since childhood, Judy served the Lord by singing in the choir, playing the piano, and teaching Sunday School at Stone Branch and later West Logan Church of God for many years. A nursery class teacher, Judy was one of the first people to share Christ’s message of love with countless children.
Judy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of more than fifty years, William Howell Jr.; her only child, Gregory Howell; and a brother, Lonnie Ray Brumfield.
Those left to cherish her memory include granddaughter Crystal Howell and her husband Michael Beck of Lynchburg, Va.; grandson Garrett Howell of Chapmanville, W.Va.; daughter-in-law Janet Jones of Chapmanville; sister Janet Gore (Roger Dale whom she loved like a brother) of Milton; brother Danny (Roberta) Brumfield of Ocean Isle Beach, N.C.; brother Jerry (Linda) Brumfield of Cumming, Ga.; niece Rhonda Gore-Estep, her husband Brad Estep, and their son Aiden, the “Sunshine” to Judy’s “JuJu,” of Culloden, W.Va.; and many other nieces, nephews, and friends.
A private graveside service was officiated by Pastor Jody Bias.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Stone Branch Church of God.
