Juanita Clay

Juanita Clay, 86 of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on November 11, 2023 at her residence.

She was born July 10, 1937 in Lenore, WV the daughter of the late William Tate Derosette and Maggie (Coyer) Derosette.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lou Coyer and Elvira Baisden Derosette; husband, Elbert Woodrow Clay; father and mother-in-law, Froud and Bessie Dowdy Clay; son, Wayne Clay, daughters, Maggie Farmer and Linda Steele; granddaughter, Amy Browning Farris; three sisters, and two brothers.

Juanita loved spending time with her family, going to church when she was able. She loved her grandchildren but above all she loved the Lord.

Those left to cherish her memory include her caregivers in which she lived, Lisa and Casey Dingess; daughter, Patricia (Gary) Browning of Kodak, TN; adopted son, Doc Williams; grandchildren, Lisa (Casey) Dingess, Jerry Steele, John Browning, Wayne (Cindy) Clay, Anthony Clay, Joshua (Erica) Clay, Rachel (Derik) Dunn, Jodie Stollings-Lowe, Stephanie Browning, Kylie (Trevor) Farmer, and Ethan Buckner; great-grandchildren, Levi Dingess, McKaila (Chad) White, Jayna (Zack) Farris, Brennan Browning, Abby Steele, “Tate” Steele, Ethan Queen, Trace Clay, Mia Clay, Kendrick Clay, Preston Dunn, Tristan Dunn, Landon Clay, Lilly Clay, Harley Clay, Justin Browning, Grace Browning, Hannah Browning, Jeremiah Browning, and Jonathan Browning; and great-great-grandchildren, Autumn Gillum and Connor Copley;

Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Freeman Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at the funeral home with Arlie “Jay” Bush officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.

Pallbearers will be John Browning, Levi Dingess, Wayne Clay Jr., Zackary Bennett, Chad White, Zachary Gillum, Derik Dunn, Tristan Dunn, and Tate Steele.

Honorary pallbearers will be Casey Dingess, Doc Williams, Preston Dunn, and Brut Basadre.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
