Joshua Will Workman, 43, of Harts, West Virginia, departed this life on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
He was born January 7, 1980, in Huntington, West Virginia, a son of Jewel and the late Richard “Dick” Workman.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Anna and Jack Workman; maternal grandparents, Virgie and Junior Ritchie; and sister-in-law, Stephanie Adkins.
Josh was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He attended the NASCAR Technical Institute in Mooresville, North Carolina, where he earned his certification in automotive technology. Josh’s love of automotive technology began at an early age, helping his father service his fleet of tractors and trailers. He could take anything apart and put it back together. Josh was blessed with mathematical genius. Growing up, Josh’s interests were seeped in automobiles and baseball. He made lifelong friends through the love of baseball, and was a member of the Chapmanville Tigers 1997 State Championship team. Josh was a consummate dog lover, who was often given the task of training the family’s pets. Much of the time, Josh could be seen with a loyal canine companion by his side.
Josh was married to the love of his life, Carrie, with whom he shares two wonderful children, Cylas and Parker. Cylas inherited, and will carry on Josh’s quick wit and dry humor, as well as his everyday mannerisms. Much like her father, Parker has the ability to know a whole room and out-talk anyone. Like his father, Josh’s love of music curated a vast playlist, spanning every genre and era. This family attribute has been handed down to his daughter, Parker. A hands-on dad, life lessons were taught by honest talk and follow-through. Josh was always able to turn a serious parenting situation into a lesson in humor.
In addition to Josh’s wife and children, those left to cherish his memory include his mother, Jewel Workman, of Harts; sisters, Nicole (Mark) Dalton, of Harts, and Tara (Paul) Warner, of Huntersville, NC; brother, Jacob Workman (Madison Bryce), of Harts; in-laws, Christine and Spencer Adkins, of Harts; brothers-in-law, Spencer (Roberta) Adkins, of Ashland, VA, and Justin (Chrissy) Adkins, of Harts. Josh is additionally survived by a host of very special nieces, nephews, and large extended family.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, September 15, 2023 at the Morning Star Freewill Baptist Church with Jason Adkins officiating, with visitation starting at 11:00am.
