Jonathan Matthew Elkins, 65 of Chapmanville, WV, departed this life on December 30, 2025 at his residence.

He was born July 20, 1960 in Kansas City, MO the son of the late Curtis and BeeBee Elkins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law James (Grace) Wellman and his mother-in-law, Margie (Ernie) Toler.

Jonathan loved fishing, hunting, watching football and spending time with his family. He was a very proud truck driver and drove cross country for 30 years.

Those left to cherish his memory include his dedicated and loving wife of 35 years, Mary Elkins of Chapmanville; two daughters, Alyssa White of Randleman, NC and Maria (David) Deraimo of Charleston, WV; one son, Bennie James May of Chapmanville; three brothers, Chris Elkins of Chapmanville, Doug (Becky) Elkins of Grundy, Va and Joe (Rose) Elkins of Chapmanville; five grandchildren, Haley (Weslee) Cook of Lincolnton, NC, Tristian (Cheyenne) White of Cherryville, NC, Dallas Howell of Randleman, NC, Megan (Austin) Dingess of Charleston and Andrea (Emma) Graley of Julian; six great grandchildren, Aubrey, Brenleigh, Carsyn, Maddox, Rosie and Rhett who he loved dearly; his lifetime childhood friend, James Steffie; great nieces and nephews, Abby and Gabby Morrison, Zoie Runyon, Jobe Morrison and Aaron Runyon who he loved so much.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Freeman Funeral Home to help with arrangements.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:00pm, Friday, January 2, 2026 at the Kitchen – Wellman Cemetery at 304 Bentley Branch Rd, Chapmanville, WV with Pastor Tony Vance officiating.

Pallbearers will be James Steffie, Chris Runyon, Daniel Morrison, Wesley Cook, Aaron Runyon Bennie May and Mike Jarrell.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
