John Dingess Jr

John Dingess, Jr, 92, of Phico, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Dignity Hospice House, Chapmanville, WV.

He was born February 16, 1927 in Sarah Ann, WV, a son of the late John F. and Ella Meadows Dingess.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Virginia Farris Dingess, sisters, Sena Dingess and Myrtle Brown and brothers, Rufus, Harry, Bill, Neal and Cush.

Mr. Dingess was a U.S. Army Veteran having served in the 822nd Military Police. He was a coal miner, state road employee and a lineman for the Dingess Line Company. He was very proud to be a member of Odd Fellows Lodge #274, holding several offices.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters, Linda and Sheila Dingess of Chapmanville; sons, Melvin (Karen) Dingess, Jerry (Theresa) Dingess, and John Dingess III all of Chapmanville and Kenneth (Carolyn) Dingess of Garland, TX; grandchildren, Melinda McComas of Huntington, Jeremy Dingess (Angie Craddock) of Logan, Allison Dingess (Chris Ojeda) of Charleston, Timothy Dingess of Carrollton, TX and Kimberly Dingess of Pearl, MS; great-grandchildren, Jaden Dingess, Aida Ojeda and Baby Ojeda (to be born in September).

Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Freeman Funeral Home with Harry Joe Dingess officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV.

Visitation will be on Saturday, February 23, 2019 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers make memorial contributions to Dignity Hospice House in Chapmanville, WV.
