Joan Adkins

Joan Adkins, 82, of Harts, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, March 12, 2019 at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

She was born September 12, 1936 in Dayton, Ohio, a daughter of the late John W. McGatha and Sarah Harless McGatha.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death her husband, Robert Ray Adkins, one daughter, Susan Joan Workman, one grandson, Andrew Peterson, grandparents, John W. McGatha, Emma Cheesemen, Jasper and Naomi Harless, three sisters, Sandy Blessing, Marilyn League and Margret McGatha, four brothers, Clyde, John W. Jr, Charles, and James McGatha, and her father and mother-in-law, Okie and Della B. Adkins.

Joan enjoyed spending time with family, her church family, sewing, reading, singing and going to church. She was member of Toney Christian Fellowship Church for 39 years, with a strong faith.

Those left to cherish her memory include one daughter, Robin (Ernie) Manns of Harts; one son, David Wesley Adkins of Harts; one sister, Betty Patton of Newcarlise, OH; three grandchildren, Carrie Manns, Jonathan Peterson and William Peterson; one great-grandchild, Carson Peterson.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm, Sunday, March 17, 2019 at Toney Christian Fellowship Church with Donnie Wells officiating. Burial will follow at George Duty Cemetery, Big Ugly, Harts, WV.

Visitation will be on Sunday, March 17, 2019 from 12:00 – 1:00 pm at the church.

Pallbearers will be family.
