Jimmy Darrell Collins, 74 of Ranger, WV, departed this life on October 5, 2024 at Logan Regional Medical Center surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born November 3, 1949 in Logan, WV the son of the late Cleston Collins and Geneva Nelson Collins.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Linda Adkins Collins, three grandchildren, Nicholas Caldwell, Elijah Hensley and Tiffany Collins, three brothers, Golden Collins, Terry Collins and Bobby “Porky” Collins, his father-in-law, Jim Adkins and his mother-in-law, Maxine Adkins.
Jimmy was a Vietnam Veteran who received various medals including two purple hearts during his time in the US Army as a Private First Class. He was also a member of the Pineview Freewill Baptist Church at Big Ugly for 40 plus years. Jimmy loved to sing for the Lord and sang at various different churches. He absolutely enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jimmy also enjoyed time with his fur baby Lucy after his beloved wife passed away. Jimmy and Lucy had a bond like no other. Jimmy left a great testimony behind doing what he loved which was serving the Lord. His spirit and love will forever be in the hearts of all who loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his seven children, Roberta (Brent) Adkins, Dreama (Randall) Reynolds, Timmy (Kimberlin) Collins, Crystal (Robert) Hensley, Joseph Collins, Dustin (Josie) Collins and Destiny Collins; ten grandchildren, Chelsie Lowe, Laina Caldwell, Noah Hensley, Spencer Adkins, Carson Adkins, Miranda Reynolds, Johnathon Reynolds, Trinity Collins and Caelin Starkey; six great-grandchildren, Rylan, Baylee, Tucker, Daxton, Kinsley, Elliot, Millie and Baby Reynolds who is on the way; and his beloved fur baby, Baby Lucy.
Services will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, October 12, 2024 at Freeman Funeral Home with Manuel Hensley and Jimmy Carter officiating. Burial will follow at the Bishop Cemetery, Ranger, WV.
Visitation will be on Saturday, October 12, 2024 from 11:00am until 1:00pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
