Jana Lynn Tudor, 68, of Madison, West Virginia, passed away suddenly in CAMC Memorial Hospital on March 11, 2026, after a brief illness. Jana was born on January 1, 1958, to the late Phyllis and Maxel Tudor.

Jana was a 1976 graduate of Scott High School, where she was a very talented drummer for the Scott High School Marching Band. Jana also excelled in tennis. She enjoyed watching movies, beach trips, and shopping. Jana graduated from Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College in May 1988, with an associate degree in nursing, marking the beginning of her 38-year journey as a registered nurse. However, Jana’s true passion was rescuing and feeding feral cats in the Madison and Danville areas. Jana’s love for stray cats was never-ending, always caring for those society had left behind.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis and Maxel Tudor, Jana was preceded in death by her sisters, Gina Tudor and Lisa Pratt, and her cousin, Jimmy “Jumbo” Cook.

Surviving Jana are her brother, Chris (Terri) Tudor, of Madison, West Virginia; nieces, Hayley Tudor of Madison, West Virginia, and Nicole (Mike) Becker of Corydon, Iowa; and nephew, Shawn (Angie) Pratt of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Jana is survived by great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins, Fran Ganda, Jeanie Sanders, and David Cook. Jana is also survived by her lifelong best friend, her “chosen” sister, Jeanne Plants Southern. The family is forever grateful for the bond Jana and Jeanne shared during their lifetime, a friendship of love, loyalty, and devotion to the very end. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to BARC in Jana’s memory to help volunteers continue caring for stray fur babies in her community, where Jana’s soul touched so many lives. 

In honoring Jana’s wishes, there will be no service.

Freeman Funeral Home in Chapmanville, West Virginia, is assisting the family with arrangements.
