James Steven MacDonald Obituary

James Steven MacDonald, 80, of Chapmanville, WV left this world to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Trinity Healthcare Services of Logan.


He was born on June 29, 1945 in Pulaski, VA to Ana Margaret Oscar and was raised in Holden, WV by Clyde and Julina (Pack) MacDonald.


In addition to his parents and birth mother, he was preceded in death by daughter, Teresa Renee MacDonald, brother Glenn (Mary) Dunford, sisters Linda and Marie Banks, second wife Betty Booth MacDonald and stepson, Mickey Booth.


James loved going to church, serving the Lord. He also loved his church and spending time with his church family. He enjoyed listening to music and collected old records.


James is survived by his daughter Sherry Lynn MacDonald of Switzer, sister Ruby Ann Banks of West Liberty, KY, brothers Gary Banks and Bobby Banks of Manchester, KY, former sister-in-law, Billie Pyatt of Logan, who he was still close to, and considered his family, and grandson, Seth Browning of Hillsboro, OH.


Graveside services will be held at 11:00am, Wednesday, March 11, 2026 at Highland Memory Gardens, Old Logan Road, Chapmanville, WV, with Pastor Orville Ellis, Jr officiating.


Pallbearers will be family and friends.


His daughter requests, as this was his final wish, that black not be worn at his funeral and not to cry for his passing, because he is finally healed and with his Heavenly Father.
