James Earl Deel, 63, of Chapmanville, WV, went to his Heavenly home on Saturday, January 1, 2022 at CAMC Memorial Hospital, Charleston, WV.
He was born July 29, 1958 in Logan, WV, the son of the late William “Bill” Deel and Lura (Elkins) Deel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife and the mother of his daughter, Jennifer Deel, brother-in-law, Eddie Ferrell and “Granny” Elaine Freeman.
James enjoyed hosting get togethers, entertaining company and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed 4-wheeler riding, hunting, fishing, gardening, singing, playing music and spending time at Camp Lambert. Of all the things James loved, he wore the title “Papaw” proudly. James was a coal miner for 37 years. He also attended Striker Bible Church and First Baptist Church of Chapmanville, where he was baptized. James graduated with a certificate in Aircraft Maintenance from Texas Aerotech in Dallas, TX.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 21 years, Kolena Deel; two daughters, Brittany (Zack) Maynard and Olivia Freeman (Justin Stapleton); one son, James “Michael” Deel; four sisters, Geraldine Ferrell, Dreama (Virgil) Hunt, Della (John) Rudesill and Naomi Deel; one brother, David (Denise) Deel; four grandchildren, Makenzie Deel, Jennifer “Jenni” Maynard, Kayne Stapleton and soon to be Teagan Maynard; his special friends, Mark Lambert (Shelley Stollings) and Chris (Jami) Mitchell; his in-laws, Harry and Ilene Freeman; and he will be sadly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, friends and family.
Visitation services will be held from 6:00pm until 9:00pm on Thursday, January 6, 2022 at Freeman Funeral Home.
At the family's request there will be a private funeral.
Pallbearers will be John Rudesill, Tony Deel, Chris Mitchell, Justin Stapleton, Zack Maynard, Mark Lambert and Keith Huffman.
The family request in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Freeman Funeral Home.
