Jack Dempsey, 88 of Dingess, departed this life on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at his residence.

He was born July 28, 1936, in Williamson, WV, the son of the late Casey Nile Dempsey and Ida Irene Dempsey.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rosie Dempsey; grandparents, James Robertson and Esther Slater; father-in-law, Howard Gore, and mother-in-law, Mary Jane Gore.

Jack enjoyed fishing, gardening, church and travel. He was also a UK fan.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Virginia Dempsey; three daughters, Sheffy Turner, Debbie (Larry) Rockel and Elaine (Jeff) Justice; three sons, Michael (Susan) Dempsey, David (Claudia) Dempsey and Billy (Ladonna) Kirk; sister, Melinda Binder; 17 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and a very special niece and nephew, Lisa Phillips and Brad Binder.

Services will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Roland Browning officiating. Burial will follow at the Finley Cemetery, Dingess, WV.

Visitation will be on Saturday, March 22, 2025, from 12:00pm to 1:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Billy Kirk, Larry Rockel II, Jeff Justice, Phillip Baisden, John Phillips and Treavor Dubiel.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Rockel Sr., Brandon Walker, French Burke, Braydon Walker, Weston Walker, Kingston Walker, Ryder Castle, Dan Castle, Jase Dubiel, Stefan Barber and Tate Barber.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
