Iris Thompson

Iris Thompson, 68 of Ranger, WV, departed this life on May 15, 2022 at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

She was born July 16, 1953 in Logan, WV the daughter of the late Boyd & Malta (Moore) Workman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ben & Ida Moore, daughter-in-law, Angela Thompson, nephew, Justin Thompson, brothers-in-law, Gary Thompson and William Storey, and her father and mother-in-law, Harold & Jewell Thompson.

Iris enjoyed gardening, fishing, cooking, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed going to church and was a member of the Garrett Chapel Church.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 50 years, Larry Thompson; one daughter, Renae Thompson; one son, Stewart Thompson; three sisters, Violet Workman Storey, Loretta (Tracy) Toppins and Kay (Danny “Stimie”) Tomblin; four grandchildren, Makayla (Justin) Workman, Larry “Raggie” Thompson, Jake Thompson and Abby Thompson; brothers-in-law, Keith (Rhonda) Thompson, Randy (Janet) Thompson, Roger (Ann) Thompson; sister-in-law, Sherry Thompson; twelve nieces and nephews, Carl Wallen, Josh Thompson, Roger “Chip” Thompson, Andrea Wallen Gerding, Vanessa Tomblin, Derrick Thompson, Danny Ray Tomblin, Amy Shipkosky, Chris Storey, Becky Robinson, Kim Lee and Pam Thompson.

Services will be held at 11:00am, Friday, May 20, 2022 at Freeman Funeral Home with Joey Kennedy and Travis Vance officiating. Burial will follow at the Forest Lawn Cemetery, Pecks Mill, WV.

Visitation will be on Thursday, May 19, 2022 from 6:00pm until 9:00pm at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
