Hugh Douglas “Dougie” Conley, 44 of Big Ugly, WV, departed this life on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at his residence.

He was born August 15, 1980, in Logan, WV the son of Doug Conley of Hickory, NC and Vendetta Conley of Big Ugly, WV.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents; Hugh and Bertha Workman, and his paternal grandfather; Paul Conley.

Dougie was known for his generous heart and his gift for fixing just about anything. Whether it was a chainsaw, a weedeater, or just a tough day, you could always count on Dougie to answer when you called. He loved to fish with his nephew JL and BJ, also he enjoyed worked with his hands. Dougie's greatest joy came from being there for his family.

In addition to his parents, those left to cherish his memory include his sister, Tammy (Tony) Conley- Rucker; nephew, JL (Casey) McCoy; great nephews, Easton and Parker McCoy; a very special uncle Charles (Katrina) Workman and their children; and a very loving aunt who cared for him until the end, Lorella (Danny) Adkins. Dougie also leaves behind a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends. All who will miss his kind heart, steady presence, and willingness to lend a hand. His impact on those who knew him will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be on Monday, August 11th, 2025, from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Freeman Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, August 11th, 2025, at Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Roscoe Chafin officiating. Burial will follow at the Workman Family Cemetery, at Big Ugly, WV.

Pallbearers will be JL McCoy, BJ Workman, Danny Adkins, JJ Lambert, Tony Rucker, and Jason Adkins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Easton River McCoy, Parker Lewis McCoy, Axel Jay Workman, Jackson Lee Workman, and Jerry Burton.

Freeman Funeral Home, Chapmanville, WV is in charge of the arrangements.
