Gregory Charles Yeager Obituary
Gregory Charles Yeager, 72 of Logan, WV, departed this life on April 9, 2026 at Hillcrest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Danville, WV. He resided at Hillcrest following complications of a stroke since 2019.
He was born on January 11, 1954, in Logan, WV to the late Charles Yeager and Tena Yeager Evans.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Rose Erlewine; brother, Thomas Ferrell; first wife and mother of his two oldest daughters, Kathy BaileyYeager; brother-in-law, Rick Lee Bailey; stepfather, Chester Evans; and son-in-law, Matthew Methvin.
Greg was raised in Logan and was a 1972 graduate of Logan High School. While growing up, he could be found most days on his father's car lot, Raines Motors, learning all the ways of wheeling and dealing. He later became the owner and operator of Greg Yeager's Cars Unlimited in the original location of Stollings, WV in the 1970's. He later moved his dealership to Williamson, WV in the 1980's, then back to Logan permanently. In the early 2000's he branched out yet again, opening a new dealership in Surfside Beach, South Carolina named Beach Boys Auto Sales.
Greg was best known for his big, bold personality, love of life and animals, infectious laughter, his big hugs, impeccable car knowledge, and mainly his timeless collection of legendary classic hot rods. He prided himself in selling not only classics that many could only dream of owning, but also to the average working man and woman. There weren't many, if any, places you could buy your everyday driver and the car of your dreams in one lot. That was Greg Yeager. He had big ideas, big dreams, and produced big results. Greg did life BIG in every single way. This small-town guy sold cars to everyone. His classics even made their way to NASCAR driver, Richard Petty and Bill Elliott's personal collections. He also owned a car of legendary actress, Debbie Reynolds and sold the same car later to the great singer, songwriter of The Eagles, Don Henley. Even as a one-time extremely successful business man and collector car enthusiast, his greatest achievement in life was giving. A giver to his community, to the car industry, his friends, his family, numerous organizations, schools, coworkers, and even to strangers. He expected no recognition or praise in return. His heart was big, but his giving was even bigger. BIG was the only way Greg knew how to live life.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughters; Whitney (Eric) Dolin, Kourtney Methvin, Madison Yeager; son, Shelby Yeager; grandsons, Kannon Methvin and Hunter Dolin; brothers, Dan and Arnold Yeager; sister-in-law, Sandy Ferrell and Sandy Bailey; supportive friends, Eugene Russell, Robert Walden, and Bill Miller; in addition to extended family and many other dear friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hillcrest Nursing and Rehab Center for their endless love and support that they provided in addition to Dr. Kelly Hager, Dr. Richard Knapp, and Dr. Howard Wesley Lafferty for their continuous care.
Services will be held at 7:00pm, Friday, April 17, 2026 at Freeman Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Matney officiating. Per his request, he will be cremated at a later date.
